Loch Earn Brewery Hotel and Visitor Centre open its boors for a soft launch of it brewery tap in St Fillans.

Jeremy Osborne the General Manager of the hotel part of the project said ” The main aim was to test systems and we were very happy with the support we received from local residents.   There are still a few teasing problems to iron out, one of which  was almost running out of beer.  We are selling mainly Arran beers until the Loch Earn Brewery comes on line but  have a range of over 40 bottled beer from  around 20 other Scottish breweries.  The principle lagers and wheat beers are from Hofbrau in Munich”.

The second bar on site the Loch View will be opening for testing early next month, with the coffee shop and restaurants following on later in March with the hotel element coming online towards the end of April in time for Easter.

Subject to planning consents etc the Loch Earn Brewery will open in July 2014.

Booking are now being taken for the season and Jeremy reports plenty of rooms still being available for the Ryder cup period.

The Arran Brewery purchased the Former Drummond Hotel on the shores of Loch Earn in November with the express purpose of building a second iconic brewery and visitor centre along the lines of their Arran Brewery.  Arran Blonde is one of Scotland’s best selling ales and it is hoped that the beers from Loch Earn will be as successful.

So far six staff are employed fulltime on the site including two brewers whoa re specifying equipment for the new beer and cider making facility.
