Lucky Saint launches on draught during Dry January

The first independent alcohol-free lager to be served on draught

Lucky Saint launched their 0.5% Superior Unfiltered Lager on draught on 1st January 2020 during Dry January to over 40 sites. This includes the renowned Hippo Inn pub group with flagship sites The Duke of Sussex in Southbank and The Islington Town House who will install the new, fully branded fonts across their portfolio. Urban Leisure Group’s venues, which include Coin Laundry and Heist Bank will also offer Lucky Saint on draught, along with craft beer meccas Mother Kelly’s and The Rake, the UK’s largest dining hall, all Market Halls venues, cult favourite Smoking Goat and Michel Roux Jr’s famous London pub, The Wigmore.

Luke Boase, Founder of Lucky Saint, said that “The response to Lucky Saint’s Unfiltered Lager since we launched just over a year ago has been phenomenal. During that time, demand from consumers and the trade has grown to a point where offering Lucky Saint on draught was the natural progression.”

Rupert Clevely, Managing Director of Hippo Inns comments “Hippo Inns are delighted to be one of the first to offer Lucky Saint’s premium lager on draught. As a pub group we’ve seen the low and no category grow rapidly over the last couple of years. Our customers are often seeking innovative alcohol-free options so serving Lucky Saint on tap is a clear indication of our full support of this category.”

To support this launch, Lucky Saint has worked in partnership with the family-run, premium bar snack brand, Made for Drink to develop a bespoke snack that pairs perfectly with the 0.5% Superior Unfiltered Lager. The Salted Almond & Candied Orange snack elevates the drinking experience and further enhances the full-bodied mouthfeel of Lucky Saint. The snack is complimentary for anyone ordering a pint of Lucky Saint on draught at participating venues throughout January.

Since launching in October 2018, Lucky Saint has gone from listing in 28 Honest Burgers to over 1000 pubs, bar, restaurants and venues across the UK. Now available everywhere from your favourite local pub, to casual dining spots like Dishoom, all the way up to gastronomic giants like St John. Offering the Lucky Saint Unfiltered Lager on draught is a game changer for the no/low beer category.

Lucky Saint’s 0.5% ABV:
UK law states ‘alcohol-free’ has to be 0.05% or under, whereas in the EU this number is 0.5%. Lucky Saint is brewed in Bavaria and can therefore be called alcohol-free at 0.5%, whereas if we were brewed in the UK, we would fall into the ‘dealcoholized’ category of beers between 0.05% – 0.5% ABV. So why is this negligible amount of alcohol so important to us? Simply put, 0.5% ABV helps unlock the depth of flavour and full-bodied mouth-feel you experience when you drink a Lucky Saint. In any case, did you know, that once opened, orange juice starts fermenting up to 1% ABV, a ripe banana can contain up to 0.2% and even things like sourdough bread can contain up to 1.5%. Lucky Saint believes in moderation, and a whole lot of flavour.
