Marston’s celebrates its unsung heroes in a new Channel 5 TV programme this September

Marston’s Brewery is to feature in a new Channel 5 programme airing in September called One Ale Of A Job, narrated by Al Murray “The Pub Landlord”. This three part series produced by Shine TV follows the men and women of Marston’s, as one of the biggest and oldest breweries in Britain, as they go about their everyday business.

From the hop growers to the brewers, the bottlers and the people who work in the pubs, this series will show a 360-degree portrait of a Marston’s Brewery and the people who work hard to keep Britain’s pubs pulling.

Marston’s has 14,000 staff, five breweries and 13 distribution centres across the length and breadth of Britain. From Ringwood to Cockermouth, this three part series shines a light on the everyday heroes who are responsible for keeping Marston’s – the world’s largest brewer of cask ale – going from strength to strength. Described in the programme as an iconic company, Marston’s dates back as far as 1834 and is a great bastion of British beer production. Today it is the fastest growing brewery in the UK with ties to all four corners of the country, creating distinctive regional flavours.

Richard Westwood, MD for Marston’s Beer Company said: “Our team thoroughly enjoyed being part of the programme-making process earlier this year. The end result offers some entertaining insights into the workings of our industry and the unsung heroes who just get on with their work with humour, expertise and an overriding love for their job.”

Lorna-Dawn Creanor, Executive Producer at Shine TV comments: “Making beer and running a brewery is a fascinating process, add into the mix entertaining and charismatic characters and you have a recipe for must see TV.”
