Mike Clarke publishes ‘The Last of England’, celebrating everything good about ‘going down the pub’

Guild member Mike Clarke has edited a book that celebrates pubs, titled ‘The Last of England’ after the famous Hilaire Belloc quotation. It’s a personal collection of twenty-five days out visiting pubs in selected English towns and cities, ranging from Birmingham to Bath to Leighton Buzzard. Colour photographs of many of the pubs are featured throughout. Some pubs featured are much celebrated, others are very ordinary. Spanning the last fifteen years, it provides snapshots of pubs and real ales during a fast-changing time for the beer industry.

‘The Last of England’ is also a collection of happy memories, serendipitous events and long-standing friendships. In fact, everything that’s good about ‘going down the pub’.

It is available on Amazon from 27th May for an introductory price of £12.99.
