Napton site named Pub of the Year at Pride of Hooky Awards

The Kings Head in Napton has been named Pub of the Year at the 2013 Pride of Hooky Awards. Held at the Oxfordshire brewery on 24th April, and this year recognising the importance of the brewery’s new Lion ale in its name, the annual award ceremony celebrated Hook Norton Brewery tenants.

The award is testament to a year in which the Kings Head established a superb all round business, with a superior beer and food offering, great customer service and a reputation that sees customers from afar as Birmingham visit the site.

Other awards included Best New Licensee, which went to the Angel in Burford, an AA-rosette winning pub run by Terence King and Gemma Finch, renowned throughout the Cotswolds for its fine food.

The Kings Head and the Angel also shared the Food Pub of the Year award. After lengthy consideration, the judges were unable to distinguish between the two sites for the award, much-sought considering the variety and volume of food in the Hook Norton estate.

Community Pub of the Year went to the Hare & Hounds in Wardington, which has consistently raised funds for local charities and taken elderly people in the village home after a visit to the pub, which for some of them may allow them their only trip outside for a week.

Adrian Staley, Managing Director (Commercial) comments: “At Hook Norton, we strongly believe it’s of the utmost importance to recognise accomplishments by our tenants. Our thanks go to all tenants for their incredibly hard work this year, and we thoroughly look forward to further celebrations in 2014.”
