Neptune Brewery co-founders Julie and Les O’Grady are marking a significant anniversary this year and decided to celebrate with a special brew that is close to their hearts.
Water of Love is a 9% American Barley Wine brewed to celebrate Julie and Les’ 30th wedding anniversary. As lovers of this bold style, this momentous occasion seemed the perfect opportunity to brew it together. Boasting a complex malt bill and hopped with Simcoe and Azacca, Water of Love has a luscious body with rich caramel and toffee malt flavours, balanced by prominent pine and citrus hop notes, leading to a bitter and warming long finish.
Julie speaks of what Water of Love means to the pair: “We wanted to make something we don’t typically brew, but both enjoy drinking, as a real celebration for the occasion. We thought a big, bold style like American Barley Wine was the perfect signifier of our strength as a couple and mirrors the collective strength we have as a team. We hope this is one that people can sip and take their time to enjoy.”
Water of Love will have its coordinated debut pour on Thursday 28th October at a select number of venues. As well as pouring at Neptune’s own taproom, in both cask and keg, Water of Love can be enjoyed pouring on keg at the following places:
Head of Steam, Liverpool
Indie Craft, Kendal Cumbria
Mother Kelly’s, Bethnal Green London
The Black Toad, Hoylake Wirral
The Firkin, Newton-Le-Willows St Helens
The Grapes, Knight St Liverpool
The West Kirby Tap, West Kirby Wirral
An extremely limited number of 330ml cans will also be available for general sale to trade customers, and to purchase directly on Neptune’s own webshop (https://neptune-brewery.
