The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has added two fascinating videos to its Learn & Discover platform to help viewers learn more about some of the world’s greatest beer styles. Both videos have been created by award-winning beer writers and tie into exciting new titles released this year by its publishing arm, CAMRA Books.
An Intro to Belgium Beer was filmed by Bill Bradshaw, in association with Visit Flanders, and is now publicly available on CAMRA’s YouTube channel. Tim Webb, author of Beer Breaks and eight editions of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide Belgium, introduces the country’s complex beer culture by sampling eight classic beer types and a couple of local bar snacks at the Dr Beer café and beer shop in Antwerp. Belgium’s 300 to 400 small, independent breweries make over 2000 regular beers in upward of 100 distinctly different styles, many unique to the country.
To learn more about European beer destinations, beer lovers can purchase Tim Webb’s latest title Beer Breaks – the essential pocket guide to European beer travel.
Jonny Garrett’s film World’s Greatest Beers is the counterpart to a recent CAMRA title which asks the question, what makes a great beer? The video features insights from some of the brightest voices in beer on their choices for the best beers in the world that are available to buy here in the UK. Each beer chosen has a story, whether that was a person, a place or a cherished memory.
The films have been developed for CAMRA’s educational platform Learn & Discover, which is home to a wealth of content from writers, educators and industry experts. New guides, articles, videos and audio content are added every month exploring everything there is to know about beer, cider, perry and pubs. For connoisseurs wishing to dive deeper into the world of beer and cider, CAMRA also offers in-depth articles exclusively for members*.
CAMRA’s Learning and Discovery Manager Alex Metcalfe said: “We’re extremely excited to be supporting the CAMRA Books team with promoting Beer Breaks and World’s Greatest Beers. These books are the perfect introduction to beers, both local and further afield, and a great gift for a beer lover in your life. Education and enthusiasm go hand in hand, and these videos offer great insight into the joy of beer discovery.”
