Opening in late 2022, the new taproom is North’s tenth venue, in a city that has provided inspiration and excitement over the years. The taproom will have 24 draught lines, including 18 lines of keg beer (and 1 cask), pouring North’s ever-evolving range of core beers, specials and collabs. The North team love working with friends, so guests can expect an wide-ranging array of guest breweries on the Manchester taproom line-up. Over the past seven years the team have worked with a stellar roster of Manchester breweries including Cloudwater, Track, and Pomona Island.

On the taps guests can enjoy house made negroni, a rotating selection of cocktail lines, as well as wine and fizz. A small, but perfectly curated line up of wines by the bottle will also be available, showcasing natural wine producers and innovative techniques, an approach mirrored in North’s selective spirits collection, and seasonal cocktail lists. A variety of grown-up no and low alcohol options will always be available.

John Gyngell, co-founder and director says “Our new bar in Manchester marks a huge milestone for all of us at North. We’ve actually been looking for a Manchester site for the last 25 years and have come very close a number of times! Many of the North team have lived, worked or studied in Manchester, and we make a habit of visiting as regularly as possible. The hospitality scene in Manchester has provided tonnes of inspiration over the years, and we can’t wait to bring North to the city.”

Chief Operating Officer of Vita Group, Max Bielby said: “We are delighted to sign with North Brewing Co who will act as a real draw for the development, bringing in new audiences and driving footfall for Circle Square as visitors take in everything this great destination has to offer.”

Company Bio

North was founded by John Gyngell and Christian Townsley in Leeds in 1997. They opened their original venue, North Bar, with the shared vision of blending global craft beer and local breweries, interesting wines and spirits, great quality food, and eclectic music and art. North Bar quickly became renowned for its alternative approach, quirky style and excellent, friendly service.

They have since grown to eight venues in Leeds and the surrounding area: from Preston Bar nestled in leafy Oakwood, to the cycling hub at North Bar Social in Otley, to their slick city centre taproom on Sovereign Square. With growth has come a string of awards and accolades from the likes of Imbibe, The Observer, The Publican Awards and the Society of Independent Brewers. In 2015 they founded North Brewing Co, a global brewery with an independent heart, born out of a love of food, drink and hospitality.

In 2022 North will take their first steps outside their home county, opening their ninth venue in Birmingham, followed closely by a tenth in Manchester. Beyond a passion for great beer, North is built on creating communities of like-minded people, offering exciting and innovative spaces that are inclusive, friendly and fun. Read more about the North story at: www.northbrewing.com/culture
