Oktoberfest and other events at the Crown Inn, Upton, Test Valley Hampshire

The unique and multi-award-winning traditional pub in the heart of the Test Valley, Hampshire will this Autumn host an Oktoberfest on 15 October with a few twists for all to enjoy.

Chef and owner Dave Watts and the team will be offering beers from Germany and local ales and serving delicious Oktoberfest street foods and a BBQ.  The celebrations start at 1pm and go on through to late evening with the emphasis very much on providing a relaxed, laid back day.  There will be music from local and regional bands all afternoon and evening – a great opportunity to get up and dance! The event promises to be a great fun-filled afternoon and evening and great value for money with free entry (not including food and drink).

Dave would love people to really get into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up in traditional Oktoberfest costume – Lederhosen, Dirndl skirts and other suitable gear!  But there’s no pressure of course!

Other events over the Winter include a celebration of British wines in November and Christmas parties with a special menu in the lead-up to the festive season, carefully planned and crafted by Dave and the team.  All are welcome, including families, friends, office parties and other corporate groups.  The perfect way to celebrate. There is likely to be a New Year’s party as well as the Crown’s now established New Year brunch.

All events can be enjoyed in the recently refurbished cosy interior of the pub or in the unique wooden H’Igloos (Hampshire Igloos) that have recently been added to the garden outside.  The H’Igloos are gorgeous spaces heated by wood burning stoves with added blankets for all-round toasty dining.

Dave and the team make sure The Crown Inn stays ahead of the game, particularly during these difficult times.  This is achieved by serving high quality food with an unusual twist, using local and artisanal produce, not being afraid to be different and providing the best possible experience.  The menus include its ‘classics’ such as sandwiches with salad and chips and bar snacks, a plats du jour with 3 courses for just £18.50, a la carte and monthly Sunday lunches.   Fish and chips are also available on Tuesday nights.

The pub became a TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award Winner, was included in the prestigious Michelin Guide, was a Trencherman’s Award finalist in the Best Trencherman’s Pub category and found itself in the top 5 Destination Pubs in the website Muddy Stilletto award scheme.  It is also mentioned in Sawdays Pubs and Inns – the best places to eat and drink in the UK.  For more information about The Crown visit https://www.crownupton.co.uk And more about visiting the area can be found at https://www.testvalley.gov.uk/communityandleisure/tourism/
