Old Golden Hen Takes Flight: Beer Brand Soars into Supermarkets for Spring

Old Golden Hen, the 4.1% golden ale, is hitting shelves ahead of this spring as it launches into even more supermarkets with Tesco and Asda.

Part of the Greene King and Old Speckled Hen portfolio, Old Golden Hen has launched its cans and bottles into Tesco stores nationwide across the UK this month. The golden ale is available in 4x500ml cans and 500ml bottles, ideal for those consumers looking for a lighter beer as the weather starts to warm up. In April, Old Golden Hen 4x500ml cans will also be joining the 500ml bottles currently available in Asda.

Old Golden Hen is a refreshing ale which offers a careful balance of malt and hop flavours for a smooth and easy-drinking experience. With the perfect level of bitterness, the golden ale has a crisp finish to balance the sweet impact of the tropical fruit flavours.

Over the last few years, the industry has seen growth in golden ale and Greene King is excited to be able to provide its beer across even more retailers in the UK. With its rich history and distinctive flavour, Old Golden Hen’s presence in supermarkets adds a touch of craftsmanship and tradition to the drinks offering available.

Kirsten Alexander, Brand Manager for Old Golden Hen, said: “Naturally as the weather starts to get warmer and brighter, consumers look for a lighter and more refreshing beer to enjoy in either bottle or can format. Old Golden Hen is a golden beer with subtle tropical fruit notes and a deliciously smooth finish so it’s ideal as we start to get into the spring season. We look forward to seeing Old Golden Hen on the shelves in both Tesco and Asda.”

The 4x500ml cans pack and bottles of Old Golden Hen are currently available in Tesco stores nationwide and at Tesco.com, with cans also launching in Asda from April, to sit alongside the bottle format of the golden ale.
