A new craft beer brewery inspired by the creativity and flair of the people and places of Portobello, is up-and-running.
The Portobello Brewing Company has two permanent cask ales, Portobello Pale (4% ABV) and Portobello Star (4.3% ABV). The beers will be available in speciality beer houses and high quality cask ale pubs, bars and restaurants along Portobello Road and across London.
The Portobello Brewing Company is led by business partners Rob Jenkins and Iain Masson. Both have over 30 years of brewing industry experience. The brewery, located in W10, is the largest capacity brewery in this part of London since Whitbread closed the Notting Hill brewery in 1922.
Sales Director Rob Jenkins, formerly of Scottish & Newcastle, Young’s and Charles Wells breweries, is passionate about craft beer and what the Portobello Brewery will offer London drinkers. Rob commented, “Our vision is to supply London’s pubs with their fastest selling craft beer. Not their biggest but their best. For us it’s all about taste, quality and innovation. We’re sure that when drinkers try our Portobello Star or Portobello Pale beers they’ll soon be back for more”.
Head brewer Iain Masson, formerly of Bass, Greene King and Hardy & Hanson breweries brings his unique flair to the creation of Portobello beers and comments “we use only the finest malt and hops from around the world to produce innovative, quality cask and craft keg beers, ensuring we meet our company mission of crafting things differently”.
Adds Rob “we have in development a new craft lager which will be launched in April 2013; and we see the Portobello Brewing Company as very much a community project, so that as the demand for our beers grows we’d like to employ more people from the area to work at our brewery”

Portobello Pale is a golden 4% ABV cask beer, brewed with marris otter pale ale and caragold malts. With citrus fruit aromas, Portobello Pale is a smooth, crisp refreshing craft beer.
Portobello Star is a traditional 4.3% ABV cask beer. Brewed with marris otter, caramalt and crystal malts, Portobello Star is a beautifully balanced beer with hints of berry fruits and roasted coffee.
