Seth Lakeman Joins Brewery To Launch Long Awaited Dartmoor Best

Dartmoor Best launch

International folk singer Seth Lakeman helped Dartmoor Brewery launch their new cask ale, Dartmoor Best, at The Plume of Feathers in Princetown. Dartmoor Brewery is the West Country brewery behind well-known brands Jail Ale, Legend  and Dartmoor IPA.

Taking a break from his UK Tour, Seth, now widely recognised as one of the UK’s most acclaimed young folk artists, pulled the night’s first pint of Dartmoor Brewery’s new Dartmoor Best at a special reception to launch the cask ale to the region’s licensees.

Developed by head brewer, Mike Lunney, Dartmoor Best is a hand crafted ale with a warm amber colour, made from Dartmoor water, Dartmoor grown barley and described as a delicious light (ABV3.7%) amber session ale with a refreshing dry hop citrus fruit character. Its unique style and bitter sweet aftertaste produce a very refreshing beer.

Based in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, Dartmoor Brewery created the new Dartmoor Best following the transfer of the brand name to Dartmoor Brewery from St Austell Brewery, Cornwall, as part of a distribution deal between the two companies.

Dartmoor Brewery has been a great fan of Seth Lakeman since the early days of his career when he launched his third album, Freedom Fields, at the Brewery’s premises, and as head brewer Mike Lunney explained:

“Seth is an iconic figure in the contemporary folk movement, Dartmoor and the West Country. We are pleased he supports Dartmoor Brewery and that he was happy to take time out from his musical commitments to help make the launch such a success.”

“The addition of Dartmoor Best at 3.7% helps balance our core brand beer portfolio.  It sits well with our brands Jail 4.8% Legend 4.4% and Dartmoor IPA 4%. It’s a new recipe, with a refreshingly different characteristic, and allowed us to indulge our love of leaf hops. Like all our beers, it uses our core Dartmoor ingredients, but with a new hop variety and we are very pleased with the result.”

Dartmoor Brewery is the second largest in Devon and is situated in Princetown at the heart of the National park. It is the highest brewery in England and produces over 3.2 million pints a year. Against strong competition the Company has enjoyed good sales growth in recent years and continues to develop and expand.
