Shepherd Neame’s beers are officially world class

Three of Faversham-based brewer Shepherd Neame’s brands have been recognised with medals at this year’s International Beer Challenge, with accolades for Bear Island Triple Hopped Lager (4.6%ABV), Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale (4.8%), and Christmas Ale (7%)

It is the 26th year of the worldwide competition launched to celebrate the very best beers from around the globe. It comprises 80 different categories, with each beer subjected to rigorous judging by panels of over 70 retailers, importers, publicans, brewers, writers and flavour analysts, who sampled them in blind tastings.

A gold medal was awarded to Bear Island Triple Hopped Lager (4.6%), with two of the independent brewer’s beers – festive favourite Christmas Ale and hoppy ale Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale – also receiving silver medals.

It is the latest in a series of honours for Shepherd Neame’s beers, with other recent wins including Bear Island Triple Hopped Lager (4.6%) receiving gold at the World Beer Awards, and Whitstable Bay Pale Ale (4%), Christmas Ale (7%) and the original Thai lager Singha (5%) awarded gold at the British Bottlers’ Institute Awards.

Shepherd Neame Director of Brewing Mike Unsworth said: “This is an outstanding result, a testament to our team’s passion and knowledge, and our commitment to quality and innovation. We are delighted to receive such fantastic accolades, showing once again that our beers are world class.”
