Solvay Society release their first beer created by new lead brewer

Brother Mark is a 5% Dry-Hopped Patersbier

This brew is the first from Solvay Society’s new brewery in Leytonstone, and the first for their new brewer, Mark.

Brother Mark is a modern Patersbier, a style originally designed as a lower ABV thirst-quencher for Trappist monks. Their take uses a specialised yeast to provide a lovely balance of fruit esters and spice, with grassy dry hop aromas overlaid, making it complex yet thirst-quenching.

Mark joined Solvay Society in May 2021 as Founder, Roman Hochuli took a step back from the business to pursue a new full-time role as an Application Scientist at NDC Technologies.

He joined the team from Belleville, he has been a brewer for 3 years and a home-brewer for longer than that. Mark is originally from Sydney, just a little south of Brussels.

This newest release comes as Solvay Society has relocated and expanded their brewery in the arch alongside their Leytonstone taproom following their successful crowdfunding campaign.
