Bedlam Pilsner just “blew the Judges away” at Europe’s most important Beer competition.
“The European Beer Challenge is the pinnacle of the industry,” reported Lee Tweed, Head Brewer. “The Judges really know what they’re talking about – and we were absolutely honored to win a Double Gold European Beer Challenge 2021 Medal for our Pilsner! You can’t get higher accolade than that against an incredible selection of entrants from all over the globe! After such a difficult year this is a nod to the tremendous hard work of the whole Team and to win additional medals for Wilde and Amagansett we couldn’t be happier!”
As well as Double Gold, Bedlam also won a Gold for Wilde, its East Coast Pale Ale 4.4%, and Bronze for Amagansett American Pale Ale 5%.
Thousands of high profile samples from 39 countries fought head to head, judged by Europe’s leading beer buyers. The London County Hall hosted the final tasting in April, with Judges including senior representatives of Bibendum, AleHunters plc, and Claridges Hotel.
Alexios Stasinopoulos, Leading Sommelier and Judge, commented, “The European Beer Challenge judging experience is extremely well organised, with a panel full of Judges at the top of their game.”
Accredited Beer Sommelier and certified Cicerone® Paul Davies commented, “Judging at the European Beer Challenge is a privilege. The standard of entries was excellent.”
Mindful of its obligations to the local environment and community, Bedlam Brewery is based in a reconverted barn on a farm and brews using solar panels on the roof and donates its spent grain direct to the cows on the farm and composts the hops – talk about zero waste miles!
Bedlam supplies cask, keg and bottled beer to pubs and retailers across Sussex, Kent, Surrey and London with an online shop for home delivery of its bottles, cans and Mini Kegs, which have proved extremely popular during the Pandemic.
