TEN TRIUMPHS FOR HOOK NORTON

Cotswold-based brewery Hook Norton has reinforced its commitment to producing the best quality beer, securing a respectable ten awards in the recent International Beer Challenge 2013.

Hook Norton secured this substantial amount of awards despite competing amongst a field of international brewers from 33 countries, including heavyweights such as Samuel Adams in the USA and Italy’s Peroni.

In the Beer Tasting category, both strong dark brown beer Twelve Days and pale ale Haymaker were bestowed with Silver awards, while Hook Norton favourites Old Hooky and Hooky Gold were acknowledged for their quality with Bronze awards.

Elsewhere in the Design and Packaging category, Hook Norton took six honours including a Silver award for Double Stout. The brewer’s Flagship, Haymaker, Hooky Bitter, Hooky Gold and Old Hooky beers were presented with Bronze awards.

The judging process was stringent and meticulous, with over 40 judges involved, including a selection of renowned beer writers, as well as retailers and importers who travel the world in search of great beers.

The Chairman of the Design and Packaging section’s judges, Paul Foulkes-Arellano, reserved special praise for Hook Norton’s Hooky range, commenting that it had learnt ‘real lessons about taste appeal and range architecture from wine and other drinks categories.”

James Clarke, Managing Director (Brewing) at Hook Norton Brewery, comments: “The International Beer Challenge is a massive initiative, with respected breweries from all over the globe taking part. That we’ve been acknowledged with ten awards is testament to the excellent work taking place at our brewery. We’re truly proud of both our superb beer and its fantastic design and packaging.”
