The Book Club’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party

 www.wearetbc.com

Bunting, beer, baking, bowler hats and brass bands. It can only mean one thing – The Book Club’s Diamond Jubilee Street Party is coming to Shoreditch and it’s time to party like its 1952!

Following the resounding success of The Royal Wedding Street Party in April 2011, and street festival Bookstock in August 2011, The Book Club, is excited to announce the Diamond Jubilee Street Party, a FREE event open to all as part of ‘The Big Lunch’, the nationwide celebrations taking place in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Sunday 3rd June.

Affectionate, irreverent, patriotic and very cool, The Diamond Jubilee Street Party will feature the Guilty Pleasures DJ’s, in an unashamed, glorious celebration of all things pop. They’ll be digging up everything from forgotten gems to dance-floor belters, while the Hackney Colliery Band, east London’s best big brass band, will be performing songs with horns. Underbling and Vow will be leading revellers in a good ol’ Cockney Knees up, and party specialists Amp & Deck, will be tearing it up alongside Musical Bingo, and much more. The host and compere for proceedings will be London Fields Radio’s very own Rev Milo Speedwagon.

The best of British theme continues with a real ale festival hosted by local micro-brewery superstars, London Fields Brewery, showcasing over 20 beers and ales from some hoptastic local breweries. This should provide lubricant to help wash down the fish & chips and burgers from Bukowski Burgers! There will also be specially created Jubilee cakes from the sensational Lily Vanilli – the cake designer who has been causing a quite a stir in the foodie scene recently. True to the British fête of yesteryear, guests will be in with a chance of winning the Queen of all cakes by guessing its weight. And there will be home-grown best of British gourmet coffee from Volcano Coffee.

The Royal Wedding Street Party was one of the most talked about events of 2011 and was officially the second biggest street party in London – after The Mall! We want to do it all over again so come and join in as Leonard Street comes alive with a free party for over 5,000 guests, with live music, DJs, entertainment, the finest food and drink, performances, games and a screen showing the Jubilee procession. It’s like a village fete in the heart of the City, with Union Jacks waving, miles of bunting, thespian fun with Bestival’s much loved Hurly Burly, and fancy dress aplenty.

The Book Club are delighted to be hosting this FREE party to celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign. All ages are welcome. For up to date information on entry wristbands visit www.facebook.com/TheBookClubEC2
