THE HOUSE OF PERONI LAUNCHES ‘FOR THE LOVE OF ITALY’ RESIDENCY

The House of Peroni is making a triumphant return to the capital this summer with a six week long Residency at The Proud East in Haggerston, East London. Entitled ‘Amare l’Italia’ – meaning ‘For the love of Italy’ – The House of Peroni Residency will celebrate the country’s rich landscape to welcome guests through its doors from Thursday 19th May – Friday 1st July.

Collaborating with a number of hugely innovative and influential Italian talent to create the experience this year, the Residency will be an immersive journey to discover how some of Italy’s most successful and creative ambassadors are inspired by their love for their home country.

The Residency chef will be the critically acclaimed Francesco Mazzei, chef patron at newly refurbished Sartoria in Mayfair (and previously at L’Anima). Francesco is inspired by Southern Italian cooking – as described in his latest cookbook ‘Mezzogiorno’ – and the abundance of his homeland’s rich ingredients as well as his own memories of growing up in Calabria.

For the first time The House of Peroni Residency will have a fully stocked Italian deli, selling the best Italian cured meats, cheeses, pasta and sauces to be consumed on site or to take home. A              pre-bookable private dining event will take place three evenings a week, where guests will be invited to sit together and enjoy a sumptuous Italian feast, inspired by the family gatherings Francesco grew up with.

This 5-course Italian feast will feature his signature cooking style and includes an impressive array of antipasti dishes, including Salame all’Anatra (home cured duck salami with cherries), Battuta di Salmone (a salmon dish, akin to a tartare) and Insalata di Carciofini (artichoke and pea shoot salad). Melt in the mouth tortellini filled with the softest burratta is followed by liquorice-cured baccala (salt cod) and magnificent roasted lamb. Dessert is a fragrant Crema al Bergamotto (bergamot cream) served with sour cherries and a selection of handmade pasticcini (fine Italian pastries).

Working alongside him as Master Mixologist will be award winning Simone Caporale who returns to The House of Peroni for the second year running. Formerly assistant head bartender at The Artesian Bar at The Langham Hotel, Caporale’s drinks reflect the daily rituals and beauty of life in his home in Lake Como.

Simone has created a menu of Peroni Nastro Azzurro infused drinks that will appeal to everyone’s taste – reinvigorating Italian classics, such as the Aperol Spritz served with zesty orange sorbet and a green olive, and the Negroni, which will be served five ways from a dedicated bar. Simone brings his creative magic to the menu with innovative and fun serves, with the Città della Seta (featuring fig liqueur, chinotto and bergamot) and Baba Dolce (or ‘sweet baba’) – a refreshing and delicious tribute to the Italian Rum Baba pastry with a cherry twist.

“I’m delighted to be returning as the Master of Mixology for The House of Peroni this year and I have enjoyed experimenting with some of Italy’s freshest ingredients – drawing upon my love of classic Italian cocktails, playing with flavours balanced perfectly by Peroni Nastro Azzurro’s subtle bitterness and signature crisp, dry finish. The latest infusions are inspired by the Italian way of life, the unique style and the importance of aperitivo.”

A bespoke series of events including mixology classes, Italian culinary masterclasses and private dining experiences are on sale now via The House of Peroni website.

About Peroni Nastro Azzurro

Peroni Nastro Azzurro has been brewed in Italy since 1963 at one of three breweries across Italy; Padova, Rome and Bari. The unique recipe created by Carlo Peroni remains the same to this day, the addition of one-quarter Italian maize giving Peroni Nastro Azzurro its unmistakeably crisp and refreshing taste that is still enjoyed today. Considered the ‘most stylish’* beer brand in the UK Peroni Nastro Azzurro continues to be imported from Italy to this day.
