THE PAXTON UNVEILS NEW CULTURAL THEATRE & FILM PROGRAMME

Gipsy Hill’s cultural hub and local boozer kicks off new cultural programme with local theatre company ‘It’s a dud’

Proud to be not another gastropub, South-East London’s cultural hub, The Paxton presents a new theatre and film shorts collaboration with local theatre company It’s a dud. With the aim to bring curated culture to the heart of Gypsy Hill, the programme at The Paxton will elevate the typical pub experience making theatre and film more accessible for the local community.

Kicking off on 22nd February at The Paxton is Skratch’d – a scratch night to showcase local talent and a space to exhibit new work for emerging artists. The night will include an exciting mix of up to 10 minute long theatre performances- such as extracts or scenes from a new play, spoken word or rap, live music, dance with a narrative, sketch comedy and more.

Improv Night (Shoot From The Hip) commences from 25th February. A wild and hilarious night of Improv and playing with Shoot From The Hip Improv company.

Finally, Screen Rats is a film night for film buffs with a focus on screening exciting new pieces of work by emerging local filmmakers.  Event duration 1 hr 30mins including a Q&A with filmmakers after the screening.

It’s not often that pub visitors are surprised with a theatre offering at their local boozer. However in an age of breaking boundaries, why not enjoy an elevated experience for the senses while sipping a craft ale.
