Independent Yorkshire brewery T&R Theakston has returned to the crease, as it renews its sponsorship of the Nidderdale and District Amateur Cricket League, marking 17 seasons not out.
Set to open the batting for the 2026 season on Saturday 25th April, the league comprises 52 clubs competing in eight divisions, with 94 teams playing in some of the most picturesque settings in Yorkshire.
At 132 years old, the Nidderdale League is one of the oldest and largest village cricket leagues in the country. Establishing its sponsorship almost two decades ago, Theakston’s Brewery has shown continuous support for the league which enables both senior and junior talent to flourish in North Yorkshire.
Testament to the standard of play, the league counts former and current cricket stars amongst its alumni, including Yorkshire captain Jonny Bairstow, wicketkeeper and batsman Jonny Tattersall, fast bowler Ben Coad and opening batter Finlay Bean.
Simon Theakston, Chairman of Theakston’s Brewery, said: "We are pleased to continue our support of the Theakston Nidderdale Cricket League, under the expert guidance of Sir Thomas Ingilby. As the brewery approaches its 200-year anniversary next year, we’re proud to have a long-standing association with a league which has become integral to the sporting community of North Yorkshire. It is our pleasure to enable players and supporters to come together, share wins and losses and enjoy a pint or two of Theakstons along the way. We wish the teams participating this year all the best for the season ahead."
Sir Thomas Ingilby, Chairperson of the Nidderdale Cricket League, added: "We are greatly looking forward to another exciting season supported by Theakston’s Brewery. We are delighted to have a partner who shares our belief in community, family values and of course, a deep love of cricket!"
