Thornbridge Brewery Teams Up with Martyn Ware to Celebrate Sheffield Synth City at Sheffield Beer Week 2026

For Sheffield Beer Week 2026, the city will turn up the volume on its iconic musical past under the banner “Sheffield Synth City.” Described by organisers as a week-long celebration of Sheffield’s independent beer scene paying homage to the city’s legendary electronic music heritage, this year’s theme honours Sheffield as the home of pioneering synth-pop, electronic and bleep-and-bass artists — including The Human League, Heaven 17, Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA and influential label Warp Records.

As part of the celebrations, Thornbridge Brewery has partnered with Martyn Ware, a founding member of both The Human League and Heaven 17, to create a special limited-edition pump clip for the brewery’s flagship beer, Jaipur.

A long-time friend of Thornbridge, Martyn collaborated with the brewery’s Creative Lead, Rebecca, to design a new Jaipur badge inspired by Heaven 17’s visual identity and Sheffield’s pioneering synth movement. The limited-edition “Synth City” pump clip celebrates the band’s enduring contribution to the city’s musical landscape.

Martyn Ware commented: “As a long-time friend of the owners of Thornbridge, the chance to team up with them on a new limited-edition pump clip for their most well-known beer felt like a fantastic way to celebrate Sheffield Synth City.”

Simon Webster, Co-Founder and CEO of Thornbridge Brewery, added: “As huge fans of Heaven 17 and the legacy they have created, this felt like a natural partnership. We’re incredibly excited to celebrate Sheffield’s musical heritage in such a distinctive way.”

The limited-edition Synth City Jaipur badge will be available in pubs across Sheffield pouring Jaipur cask throughout Sheffield Beer Week 2026.
