Tryanuary Returns for 2021

Tryanuary Campaign Coordinator Mike Hampshire is delighted to announce the return of the popular campaign, which will take place in January 2021.

This time, Tryanuary will go back to the basics; with the focus on encouraging beer fans to join the campaign by sharing their beers on social media, using #tryanuary.

The Tryanuary website will once again host a free events calendar for businesses and consumers to share their Tryanuary events. Additionally, this year, a free directory is also being created on the website that will give breweries, bars, pubs, bottle shops and other beer businesses a place to share links and details of how people can support them in this unprecedented and difficult time.

“2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for all, but it has been acutely felt across hospitality” said Mike. “In fact, it was a bit touch and go as to whether Tryanuary would go ahead in 2021.”

“However, Tryanuary is a wonderful campaign and with the industry suffering, I wanted to help. So, I stripped back some of the complexities of how I have run the campaign in the previous year and focused purely on what is important – encouraging support for breweries, pubs, bars, bottle shops and other beer businesses in January.”

As in previous years, Tryanuary is also hoping to recruit volunteer Local Champions, who will be responsible for spreading the Tryanuary word and encouraging participation from consumers and businesses.

“Local Champions are an essential part of Tryanuary and I am asking for beer lovers who are able to spare some time, to apply. This year there are no formal boundaries, so Local Champions are welcome to promote Tryanuary in their street, village, town, city or region”

More information can be found out about the campaign via the Tryanuary website at www.tryanuary.com.

About Tryanuary

Tryanuary is a volunteer-led campaign that encourages consumers to support beer businesses in the traditionally difficult trading month of January. Although Tryanuary encourages support for all beer businesses, the focus is on those who are small and independently owned.

The campaign promotes responsible drinking and is inclusive of those who partake in alcohol abstinence during January. These people are encouraged to join the campaign by continuing to visit the pub for meals and soft drinks, or enjoying alcohol-free beers brewed by small, independent brewers.

Running since 2015, the current Campaign Coordinator is Mike Hampshire, who is supported by a volunteer team of passionate beer lovers.
