Tube drivers in London are set to strike for another 24 hours this week, disrupting travel across the UK capital on Thursday, 4th June.
As travel chaos continues once again for commuters, locals and visitors, hospitality management software, Access Hospitality reveals how the disruption is set to impact the hospitality industry, with historic analysis revealing that during the September 2025 Tube Strike, pubs, bars and restaurant bookings fell by up to 67% and walk-ins dropped by nearly 70%.
Tube strikes cut hospitality bookings by up to 67%
Champa Magesh, Managing Director at Access Hospitality comments, “We’ve seen from previous strikes just how significant the impact can be on hospitality businesses, with bookings dropping by 67%.
“The upcoming strikes are during a key trading window for hospitality, so it’s vital that businesses prepare now to minimise the risk of no-shows, cancellations and fewer walk-ins. With the right communication processes, flexible booking options and strong use of data, teams can react quickly and reduce the commercial fallout of the upcoming strike.”
The new tube strike dates are as follows:
• Thursday 4th June 2026, 00:01 to 23:59.
Three ways to reduce no-shows during the upcoming Tube strike
1. Send targeted reminders when a disruption is announced
Send proactive messages asking guests to confirm or reschedule their booking. SMS and email reminders with one-click confirmation links reduce silent cancellations and give you time to adjust operations.
2. Introduce flexible booking options when travel is disrupted
Allow guests to move their booking to another day or time slot without penalty during disruption periods. Protecting the relationship matters more than protecting the original booking date, and you’re more likely to keep the revenue.
3. Use historical data to spot patterns and plan ahead
Historical data and insights show you how previous disruptions affected your bookings, helping you adjust staffing, prep lists and messaging strategies based on realistic demand expectations rather than guesswork.
