Wild Horse Brewing Co, based in Llandudno, North Wales have released a brand-new beer to celebrate Cymru’s World Cup ’22 campaign, their first since 1958.
The beer is called Pêl Êl and is a zesty, refreshing 4.8% pale ale brewed with Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Chinook hops bringing bright tropical fruit notes, a piney undercurrent and just the right amount of bitterness.
Chris Holyfield, Wild Horse Head of Sales, says, “We are a proudly Welsh brewery and we’re unbelievably excited about Cymru’s involvement in the upcoming football World Cup. Like many other fans, I wasn’t sure I’d ever see this day so we just had to brew a beer to celebrate the occasion and enjoy on match day.
We’ve gone for a playful name in Pêl Êl, which is how a Welsh speaker in our area might say ‘Pale Ale’. Pêl also being the Welsh word for ball. On the can label we have tweaked the team motto to read ‘Gorau Yfed Cyd Yfed’ and taps into the Together Stronger message. Can’t wait for 21st November!”
Brand concept:
The artwork for this beer has been inspired by the iconic Wales Away kit from the early 1990s. The concept was developed in-house and the brought to life by local graphic design company Cardigan Creative.
Stockists:
440ml of Pêl Êl are available to buy on their online shop (www.wildhorsebrewing.co.uk) as well as various specialist craft beer stockists. This beer will also be available in draught format, pouring at some local pubs and taprooms.
Background:
Wild Horse Brewing Co is a Llandudno-based business established in 2015 with the goal of brewing modern flavoursome beer that North Wales could be proud of. They now have annual production of over 185,000 litres (325,000 pints) with a strong focus on the North Wales market. The majority of beer is sold to hospitality businesses within the region, as well as through their brewery retail shop and website.
Earlier this year they completed a £175,000 expansion project increasing capacity by 40% and installing a fully automated canning and labelling line. This has allowed them to start producing new products/brands, as well
as being able to meet a growing demand for their flagship beer, Nokota.
