WEST BERKSHIRE BREWERY LAUNCHES CELLARING EDUCATION SCHEME

West Berkshire Brewery (WBB) has launched a quality cellaring scheme to help educate landlords and beer contemporaries in the importance of keeping and serving cask and keg beer in perfect condition.

As part of a new partnership with Day One Training, WBB will offer the scheme to permanent stockists of their beer which includes Good Old Boy Best Bitter and the Renegade keg range with a view to extend to other customers in the future. The one-day course will include topics such as; line cleaning, the workings of a cellar, glass care, dispense and product presentation. After successful completion of the course, publicans will be awarded the recognised industry BIIAB Award in Beer and Cellar Quality (ABCQ) certificate.

The training will be carried out by Day Harvey from Day One Training who has worked with companies such as Heineken, Adnams and Cask Marque. Day says “At Day One Training we offer accredited and bespoke training for pubs, bars and various other establishments with a view to provide you with the knowledge for excellence in cellar management and beer dispense.  It’s more important than ever that customers receive a perfect pint at the bar.’’

Clare Candy, Marketing Manager at WBB says, “At West Berkshire Brewery we are passionate about all types of beer and have a special love for cask ale which remains at the heart of our business. It is our belief that a good pint of cask ale can rival any beer or style across the world which is why we are proud to be launching this initiative. We want our customers to be drinking a cask beer that is in perfect condition every time and believe that education across the industry is the key.”

Having moved into their new premises in October, the training will take place at West Berkshire Brewery in Yattendon, near Reading. Attendees will be able to experience a tour of the new state of-the-art brewery and packaging line as well as a tasting of WBB beers and lunch in their taproom.
