Oakham Ales, the acclaimed, innovative and independent ale brewery based in Peterborough, is making a splash in and around Edinburgh. Three pubs* have recently signed up to the brewers’ popular ‘Oakademy of Excellence’ which means they stock Oakham Ales on a permanent basis. The three cask-ale led pubs include: Malt and Hops, The Staggs Bar and Thomsons Bar.
The brewery has approximately 250 pubs signed up to its ‘Oakademy of Excellence’ which was launched in 2009, with its membership growing every year. On passing a beer quality test, organised by Oakham Ales, pubs receive accreditation. This entitles publicans to membership benefits that include access to exclusive ‘limited edition’ ales.
Adrian Posnett, Oakham’s managing director says: “These three pubs in and around Edinburgh are all well-known for their excellent range of cask beers and we are delighted that they have become members of the Oakademy. As this is a new area for our beers, it’s a great excuse to visit a fantastic city whilst delivering our ales. We don’t have the luxury of a large retail estate to stock out beers on a permanent basis. The success of the Oakademy means that we have started to have the distribution and profile for our beers to compete with those that do.”
