First brewed to coincide with American Independence Day in 2011, the 5.5% six-hopped beer has been a big hit this side of the pond and was only made available to purchase in can four months ago.
The brewer’s 13 Guns, won over an esteemed panel of judges which included Tesco beer buyer Chiara Nesbitt, Adrian Tierney Jones, Jane Peyton, President of Cask Brewing Systems, Peter Love and Graham Fenton, Chairman of the Can Makers.
Commenting on the award Lee Williams, Thwaites Marketing Manager said: “We’re especially delighted to have been awarded silver at this year’s Indie Beer Can Festival as it was a blind tasting. 13 Guns continues to go from strength-to-strength, with four awards already this year it is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about craft beers in the industry.”
The last 12 months have been a seminal time for 13 Guns – its distinctive American hopped flavours with piney, resinous notes having received critical acclaim from beer reviewers from day one. A feature in the prestigious drinkers’ bible ‘1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die’ was followed with the beer winning Label of the Year at the International Beer Awards and two awards at the International Beer Competition.
