London Pride joins forces with the Evening Standard – Made of London initiative celebrates the people of London that make us proud

Fuller, Smith & Turner P.L.C., the London brewer and premium pub company, is to bring five inspirational speakers to a series of events in Fuller’s pubs across the capital as part of its London Pride Made of London campaign. Names from sport, exploration and music will entertain small audiences with a discussion and Q&A session, washed down with a couple of pints of London Pride. The activity will be supported with a series of articles on other inspirational Londoners who may not be so well known, but who pay an active role in the rich fabric of London life.

The speaker programme starts on 16 September 2014 with world champion boxer David Haye taking up residence at The Parcel Yard in King’s Cross. The intimate event is limited to an audience of 45 people and tickets will be available through the Evening Standard. This will be followed by English rugby superstar Jason Leonard at The Counting House on 7 October, Alex James – cheesemaker and Blur bassist – on 4 November at The Admiralty and Radio One’s Jo Whiley on 11 November at The Tokenhouse. The line-up is completed with Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the UK’s leading explorer, on 19 November at The Counting House.

The series of Londoner’s profiles begins week of 8 September 2014. This part of the programme will see 12 Londoners featured, from landlord Gerry O’Brien of the Churchill Arms in Kensington Church Street to Errol McKellar, a life-saving mechanic.

Ian Bray, Managing Director of Fuller’s Beer Company said: “The Made of London campaign has gained real traction with Londoners across the Capital. We are on the fourth executions of our poster campaign and this activity with London’s best known newspaper takes Made of London to a new level.

“The events in pub will help to cement the relationship between Fuller’s flagship London Pride premium ale, the pub and London as a whole. Meanwhile the profile features celebrate those less well-known but no less important personalities who make London the diverse City it is today.

“As the only traditional family brewer left in London, we take our role as the patriarch of London brewing very seriously. London Pride has been brewed on the banks of the Thames at Chiswick since the 1950s – and Fuller’s was brewing for over 100 years prior to that. We are, ourselves, an intrinsic part of London’s history and this programme is a great way to celebrate all that is great about our Capital City.”
