April Showers of Flavour: Old Speckled Hen Launches Delicious New Ale

Old Speckled Hen, part of Greene King Brewery, has launched a new beer into the market this April, Old Session Hen, which offers a new distinct style for the portfolio.

Old Session Hen is a 3.4% easy-drinking ale, brewed with Harlequin hops for hints of tropical fruit flavours, and cascade hops for the perfect balance of bitterness. Rounded off with a crisp clean finish, this light ale has launched in 500ml bottles exclusively in Morrisons, on promotion for £1, just in time for spring.

The “sessionable ale” is a style that has been growing amongst consumers as they look for an ale with easy drinkability that can offer a lower ABV. The lower alcohol content and balanced flavours make sessionable ales perfect for socialising, whether that be as part of a gathering at home or at outdoor events.

Old Session Hen has been crafted to complement the new socialising experiences where consumers are looking for a beer with a lower ABV, but still offers the same refreshing taste of a golden ale.

David Spencer, Head of Marketing for the Old Speckled Hen family, said: “We are excited to launch Old Session Hen into the market for spring and it is already off to a cracking start. Old Speckled Hen is a household name when it comes to enjoying a refreshing ale at home and we continue to consider how our consumers socialise and how this then impacts their drinking preferences. Old Session Hen is already proving popular and is sure to be a hit at any gathering or social event.”

Old Session Hen is available now in 500ml bottles in Morrisons stores across the UK. The refreshing ale is also available to purchase on the Greene King online shop here: https://shop.greeneking.co.uk/products/old-session-hen
