Arran Brewery Steps in to Rescue Local Bar

The Pier Head Tavern in Lamlash has been closed for several weeks and Punch the owners have failed to find a suitable tenant.  So rather than see the bar closed and the site sold the Arran Brewery has stepped in to run the bar until a suitable tenant can be found.

The brewery will sell the full range of Arran Beers and Whisky’s as well as Hofbrau lager from Germany which the brewery distributes in Scotland.  There will be a limited food offering available.

It is hoped the brewery can help Punch find a suitable tenant for the Pier Head Tavern but in the meantime the bar has been saved and will be open again very soon.

Managing Director Gerald Michaluk said “With so many community pubs closing and being lost forever, we decided to step in, somewhat reluctantly I might add, because we are in the process of opening two bars on the mainland as well as a 30+ bedroom hotel and building two new breweries and a distillery so we are rather busy one might say.  However, after seeing at first hand the impact of a pub closure had on the tourist business in Whiting Bay we were determined not to see this happen in Lamlash so as no one else has come forward we had to step in and ensure we keep this one open”.

Anyone interested in finding out more about the opportunity available to run a pub on Arran should contact Gerald at the brewery or Punch Taverns Directly.
