The Great British Bar, set in the fairy-tale folly’s eclectic conservatory, serves exclusively British beverages, so its every gin, vodka, whisky, liqueur, brandy, beer, cider and rum is British, created by artisan, independent, family-owned businesses. Every element has been brewed, distilled or fermented in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland – from its juices, mixers and soft drinks, right down to its cola.
Through The Great British Bar, Augill Castle is celebrating the boom in quality artisan production and showcasing the very best that Britain’s drinks industry has to offer. Renowned, award-winning brands including Sipsmith, Adnams and Chase are featured heavily along with Bedrock, The Lakes Distillery, Langtons, Standing Stones and Kin, which are all made in Cumbria.
Augill’s Great British Bar is the first of its kind in the UK. There are other hotels, restaurants and bars that stock a good representation of British drinks, but none that are exclusively British.
This is the latest addition to Augill Castle’s already unique and characterful offering. Charmingly eccentric, unstuffy and welcoming, Augill has all the majesty you’d expect from a castle, without the formality. It’s a memorable place to stay offering bedrooms that are genuinely different, a spectacular location and a menu focussing on the best produce from its four surrounding counties.
