BEER 2020: CAMDEN TOWN BREWERY’S ANNUAL LAGER RETURNS FOR ITS EIGHTH YEAR

London, September 2020: Camden Town Brewery’s end of year beer series aims to push the boundaries of what a lager can be. Back for its eighth year, Beer 2020 Barrel Aged Imperial Pilsner – just like the year it’s named after – is unlike any other. Barrel aged for eight months to create an elegant lager with white wine-like characteristics, it’s the perfect way to toast the end of a year that we’ll be glad to see the back of.

The Beer 2020 Imperial Pilsner makes a sophisticated centrepiece to any dining table. Perfect for any occasion you’d usually serve a cocktail or glass of fizz, this aperitif-like lager makes a special treat at Christmas parties, or for gifting to beer-lovers.

What makes Beer 2020 unlike any other? This year, Camden have added special enzymes during the brewing process for a more ‘wine’ like flavour profile.

Aged for eight months in both white wine and young Armagnac brandy barrels, Beer 2020 is brewed with Camden’s house pilsner malt and Hallertau Tradition hops to get the same clean and fresh taste of its flagship Hells Lager, and Hallertau Blanc hops for grape and gooseberry notes that complement the flavours from the Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay barrels.

Sophisticated in both taste and style, Beer 2020 is packaged in a gold screen-printed glass bottle featuring a jazz inspired design by Camden’s Seasonal Illustrator Gaurab Thakali, perfect for gifting.

Available nationwide in Waitrose stores across the country, Beer 2020 has an ABV of 10% and is available in 500ml bottles for £7.50.

About Camden Town Brewery

Camden Town Brewery is a leading brewery based in North London and the home of Hells Lager. Founded by Jasper Cuppaidge, the team began brewing under the railway arches in Camden in 2010 and opened a second brewery in Enfield in July 2017. The Enfield brewery is the largest brewery to be built in London in over 30 years.

Camden Town Brewery’s core range consists of five beers including its award-winning Hells Lager and the brand’s newest launch – Off Menu IPA. These beers are available in all major supermarkets as well as around 3,000 pubs, bars and independent retailers.

Alongside the core range, Camden Town Brewery releases several limited-edition Seasonal Hells lagers each year and smaller batch innovations and collaboration beers under its ‘Arch 55’ series.

In May, Camden rebranded its Camden Hells to Camden Heroes Lager in support of the NHS workers across the UK. All proceeds of the beer sales were donated to NHS charities, and NHS workers were able to claim a 6-pack on Camden.

Camden also launched its virtual pub THE CAMDEN BRE.WWW.ERY BAR, which hosts a series of programmed entertainment including pub quizzes, live music and more. All events aim to raise money for Hospitality Action’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

Camden Town Brewery continued support for Hospitality Action’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund by hosting an auction on Twitter for the most valuable pint of Camden Hells delivered to two metres from one lucky beer fan’s front door. The pint was sold for £800, with Camden matching the winning bid.
