SCOTTISH BEER & PUB ASSOCIATION REACT TO FIRST MINISTER’S RESIGNATION
NEXT FIRST MINISTER MUST UNITE BEHIND BUSINESS
Following on from First Minister Humza Yousaf’s announcement of his intention to resign as First Minister and leader of the Scottish National Party, the Scottish Beer & Pub Association (SBPA) have called on his successor to unite behind business to support jobs and grow the economy.
Commenting, CEO of the SBPA Emma McClarkin said:
“Scotland’s next First Minister needs to unite the parliament, unite the country, and unite behind business to grow the economy, support jobs and reinstall the confidence necessary for increased investment in the country.
“A key priority for our sector will be action to address the unfair tax burden placed on our much-loved pubs and bars with Non-Domestic Rates, reducing the regulatory burden on business, and abandoning any further actions to restrict advertising and sponsorship – which would be an existential threat to Scottish businesses and the 62,000 jobs supported by our iconic industry.
“We thank Humza Yousaf for his engagement during his time as First Minister and the positive steps undertaken by him, particularly with his New Deal for Business and hope to continue this work with his successor.”
