New research shows that 10°C is warm enough for the beer garden for 1 in 6 Brits.
Coors is giving away free pints when the temperature drops to support pubs in driving footfall this Winter
As autumn settles in and the cold weather takes hold, new research from Coors reveals that Brits are ready to wrap up warm and keep the beer garden going for just a little bit longer – giving pubs and bars a golden opportunity to drive sales before winter sets in.
According to the study, almost 1 in 6 (16%) British people would still be happy to sit outside when the temperature is around 10°C, while 5°C appeared to be the cut-off point where the vast majority (98%) of people would call time on the beer garden.
With temperatures expected to stay mild into November, pubs and venues still have a few precious weeks to make the most of their outdoor spaces and keep those beer garden vibes alive.
And, when the temperature truly drops and winter arrives, Coors is stepping in to lend a hand. Partnering with 150 Greene King pubs, the brand will be giving away free pints every time the temperature dips below 5°C – helping venues draw people back through their doors even on the coldest days.
When the mercury hits that magic number, eligible punters at participating venues will be able to claim one free pint of Coors and be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a three-day winter getaway to Reykjavik, Iceland.
Abigail Spencer Marketing Controller for Coors, said: ““As a brand that’s built around celebrating ice-cold refreshment, Coors has always had an affinity for those moments when cold really means cold. Our colour-change technology tells drinkers exactly when their pint has reached peak refreshment — so we set out to explore how Brits really feel about the cold and help pubs and bars create little moments of delight through the chillier months.
“Our research shows that Brits are a hardy bunch, and that those al fresco beer garden vibes last longer than you might think. While everyone has their limit when ‘cold means cold’, we wanted to help pubs keep the buzz going for as long as possible — and, when it finally does get too cold, to give people a great reason to come back inside for a perfectly chilled pint.”
The campaign will run in participating venues throughout November and December and Coors plan to giveaway around 2,000 free pints.
