BUTCOMBE BREWERY ACQUIRES IMPERIAL BRASSERIE IN WESTON SUPER MARE AND RE-OPENS AS THE IMPERIAL PUB BAR AND BISTRO

Butcombe, the fastest growing Brewery in the West Country, has taken over the Imperial Brasserie, South Parade, Weston Super Mare, taking its retail estate to twenty-one.  The Brasserie is being renamed Pub Bar and Bistro, but the overall feel of the Imperial and the quality of food and drink on offer remains the same.  This is the Brewery’s third venue in the area, the others include:  The Woolpack in Worle and the Queen’s Arms in Bleadon.

Butcombe managing director Guy Newell comments: “We have known the current owners Chris and Mike Sanders for many years –  they invested in revamping the interiors and furnishings when they took this fantastic building over in 2010.  We have put our own stamp on it, making the front ‘Imp Bar’ more attractive and welcoming, with new flooring, lighting and furniture.  The downstairs Bistro and upstairs Imperial Restaurant and Function Suite remain unchanged, but will now offer our own great range of beers as well as some selected guest ales with high quality food in both.  We believe the area is crying out for a great food, drink, and function venue and situated so near to the seafront, we’ll be open all day for those just wanting breakfast, a light snack, a hot drink,  or indeed an a la carte meal accompanied by something alcoholic!”.

Chris Sanders said: “Butcombe is a quality operation and I think The Imperial will go from strength to strength under it. We previously sold the Queen’s Arms in Bleadon to Butcombe, even though it wasn’t the highest bidder, because we knew they would do a good job

“The Imperial is one of Weston’s high quality buildings and we are pleased to have played a part in saving it – when we took it on, one of the other interested parties wanted to turn it into a lap dancing club!”
