Butcombe Brewing Co. has appointed Jayne Goater as their new project brewer. Jayne joins Butcombe from Molson Coors’s Research and Development Pilot Plant in Burton on Trent, where she worked on product and brewing process development, honing her skills.
Prior to Molson Coors, Jayne achieved a Master of Science degree (MSc) in Brewing Science and Practice from Nottingham University. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Biochemistry and Genetics from the same institution.
Butcombe recently rebranded to increase its appeal to a growing number of younger and female drinkers interested in craft ale. The number of female ale lovers is rising rapidly with women now making up more than 20 per cent of CAMRA’s membership. As one of fresh wave of young, female brewers entering the industry, Jayne will influence Butcombe’s brew to ensure its popular with this market.
Jayne’s role as Project Brewer at Butcombe will see her focussing on what she can do to perfect the craft in the Brewery to ensure it continues to make great beer.

I feel so fortunate that I can earn a living making something I feel so passionate about. I hope to see a beer that I have created and brewed on the bar soon.”
