CAMRA authors shortlisted for Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards 2024

Authors of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) publications have been shortlisted for Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards 2024.

Celebrated writers of books published by CAMRA, David Jesudason and Adam Wells, have been shortlisted for the prestigious Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards 2024.

Desi Pubs by David Jesudason has been shortlisted in the Debut Drink Book category.

The groundbreaking CAMRA book Desi Pubs by award-winning journalist and beer writer David Jesudason is a fascinating guide to British-Indian pubs, food and culture. The first book of its kind, Desi Pubs takes the reader on a journey to parts of Britain that are seldom visited. The guide is a celebration of 21st-century Britain and the forgotten people who created our modern, multicultural country.

Desi Pubs has previously won gold for Best Book about Beer or Pubs from the British Guild of Beer Writers Awards 2023, and David himself went on to claim the illustrious Michael Jackson Award for Beer Writer of the Year.

Adam Wells has been shortlisted in the Drink Writer category. The acclaimed writer is the founder-editor of Cider Review, the UK’s leading source of long-form articles on cider and perry.

He has penned the upcoming CAMRA title, Perry: A Drinker’s Guide, which is set for release 1 May 2024. Successfully funding its Kickstarter campaign in under 24 hours, it is the world’s first dedicated and comprehensive guide to this traditional drink. Discover the wonderful world of perry, with information on its extensive history as well as guides to how it’s made, countries, regions and producers.

You can pre-order your copy of Perry: A Drinker’s Guide here.

CAMRA regularly publishes books about pubs, beer, brewing and cider, with many going on to receive multiple nominations and win awards, including from Fortnum & Mason, British Guild of Beer Writers and the Gourmand Awards.

The annual Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards celebrates the UK’s best food and drink writers, publishers, photographers, broadcasters, content creators and personalities. The winners will be announced 2 May 2024.

The CAMRA publication A Year in Beer by Jonny Garrett previously won the Fortnum & Mason’s Drink Book of the Year award in 2022, and the Campaign has high hopes for Desi Pubs to follow in its footsteps this year.
