Cask Ale Week 2013 – dates confirmed

This is to confirm that Cask Ale Week runs from 27th September to 6th October this year. Don’t forget to put it in your diary!

The Week is being facilitated by Cask Marque and run by pubs and breweries. The theme is ‘Introduce a Friend’, the idea of which is to bring a whole new audience to cask ale – and by doing so, to help maintain or increase footfall into pubs. ‘Introduce a Friend’ should give plenty of promotional and PR opportunities for the trade – which in turn should contribute to the number of stories around for beer writers to cover. Anything you can do to support the Week will be much appreciated.  Indeed, if you’re looking for commissions from companies, publications or programming editors, Cask Ale Week might provide you with just the hook that’s needed…

The launch of CAW will be a ‘National Master Class in Cask Ale Tasting’. It will take place in pubs and breweries all over the country on Thursday 26th September. We’ll be encouraging breweries and pub companies to use brewers, beer experts and sommeliers to run tutored tasting sessions on that day, publicising them as far and wide as possible. The Guild has a number of experts who run entertaining and educational tasting sessions and it would be fantastic if all of them were to be engaged in running Master Classes on Thursday 26th September. If you’d like us to promote your availability to conduct (or help with) tasting events, please could you send me, preferably by 11th January:-

·         your contact details including social media

·         a short (say paragraph-long) sales pitch about you and what support or activity you could offer beer and pub companies or pubs.

We will share these with companies across the industry.

It would be up to you to agree terms and content with any interested parties: we are just helping to facilitate the activity. Our only request is that any activity should be with Cask Marque sponsors (over 40 to choose from: see http://www.cask-marque.co.uk/blog-news-info/sponsors) and Cask Marque accredited pubs (over 8,000 pubs are accredited: see http://cask-marque.co.uk/find-real-ale-pubs) and that you use the opportunity to actively promote cask ale.

I hope you’ll be interested in being involved in some way or other and look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks, kind regards and all best wishes for 2013,

Frances Braces

On behalf of Cask Marque
