« Purity appoints new chairman to its board of directors
« Simon Brown joins the team as of 01 January 2013
Warwickshire-based Purity Brewing Co recently appointed a new chairman to its board of directors. Simon Brown joined the company on 01 January, bringing with him a wealth of industry expertise. The timing of the appointment coincides with a significant capital investment in a new brew house.
Mr Brown’s career to date includes sales and marketing positions across the drinks sector, notably with Grand Metropolitan, Courage and Scottish and Newcastle, where he was on the UK Board. Most recently he led the Jygsaw Brands business prior to its sale.
Jygsaw Brands worked with a number of large and small brands including Woodpecker Cider, McEwan’s Lager, Scrumpy Jack and Symonds Founder’s Reserve Cider. The business facilitated the turnaround of failing lines and developed new brands for the market.
Mr Brown comments: “Purity is a fantastic brand developed by a vibrant and passionate team. It has enormous potential and is ripe for the next stage of development. We hope that a bit of additional sales and marketing leadership and experience will help push the business through that next stage.”
Alongside the investment in the brewery, the team at Purity is expected to increase in number this year as the business prepares itself for projected growth.
Paul Halsey, Managing Director at Purity Brewing Co, comments: “I am delighted to welcome Simon to the team. His mix of skills brings a new and valuable dimension to the team. Together, with his guidance, I am confident that the business is ready for an exciting 2013.
Mr Brown concludes: “I’m not sure if joining the energetic team can be classified as work – it’s more like fun! In any case I am pleased to be in amongst it all and a part of Purity’s bright future.”
