Ciderologist video celebrates Cider Month

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is celebrating Cider Month this October with a bespoke video in collaboration with celebrated cider campaigner, The Ciderologist Gabe Cook, which explains how cider, perry and cheese are the perfect gastronomic match.

The film has been developed for CAMRA’s educational platform Learn & Discover, which is home to a wealth of content from writers, educators and industry experts. New guides, articles, videos and audio content are added every month exploring everything there is to know about beer, cider, perry and pubs. For connoisseurs wishing to dive deeper into the world of beer and cider, CAMRA also offers in-depth articles exclusively for members*.

Expelling the view that wine is the beverage of choice for food pairing, Gabe Cook is joined by cheesemonger Dominic Pulsford, of the Two Belly bottle shop in Bristol, to learn how to match cheese and cider together. Filmed by videographer Bill Bradshaw, the educational video offers an insight into complementary tasting notes and flavour profiles of contemporary ciders and how cheese can accentuate their qualities.

CAMRA members can exclusively view the informative and entertaining guide here.

Gabe Cook, otherwise known as The Ciderologist, is the author of CAMRA’s Modern British Cider book and is the current holder of CAMRA’s prestigious Campaigner of the Year award – the first cider campaigner to achieve the title.

CAMRA supports and campaigns for cider and perry throughout the year, highlighting both drinks and their producers in month-long celebrations throughout October and May, during which time local CAMRA branches organise cider and perry events across the country.

Alex Metcalfe, CAMRA’s Learning & Discovery Manager, said: “Cider and perry take centre stage this October and will be the subject of a variety of new content for CAMRA’s Learn & Discover platform. Catering for both enthusiasts and those who are just simply curious about cider, creative video guides and engaging articles will educate and entertain everyone. Over the winter months and into the new year, there are some incredibly exciting pieces coming your way, in collaboration with some of today’s best and brightest voices in the beer and cider industries. I cannot wait for CAMRA members to enjoy the breadth of new material.”
