London-based illustration agency, Column Arts Agency, is launching its inaugural illustration and beer exhibition in London called Triple Hop.
The beer-themed exhibition, co-organised with independent craft beer producers, Honest Brew, and arts events agency, Test Space, has been designed to bring together the noble pursuits of drawing and boozing.
Triple Hop, which is taking place at 13-14 Warren St, London, W1T 5LJ, is a three part event. It consists of a 10-day traditional illustration exhibition featuring the works of twenty highly regarded artists, a bespoke beer tasting evening, which includes a live brewing session and live art, and a Bring Your Own Brew (BYOB) party in the gallery.
The beer tasting evening takes place on Thursday 24 October 2013 at the Warren St gallery between 6pm and 10pm. Attendees of this ticketed event will be able to taste five unique, locally brewed, craft beers and witness the brewing process live. Honest Brew’s beer experts will also be on hand to talk through the various beers on offer and how they are created.
Twenty renowned illustrators and street artists from the Column Arts Agency and Test Space have decorated 20 bottles of each craft beer in their own unique style. The bottles will be on sale as limited edition pieces of art, and attendees will be able to take them home for a fraction of the price of an art print.
As well as designing limited edition packaging, the artists have also created bespoke pieces of art relating to beers, the brewing process and the act of getting intoxicated. The artwork will be on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.
William Astbury, founder of Column Arts Agency, said: “We have been looking to do a collaboration event with Test Space for a very long time and surprisingly we came up with the idea for Triple Hop after a shandy or two. Getting to work with Honest Brew has been absolutely amazing. It’s been a real eye-opener brewing our own beer and experimenting with different flavours.
“We’re extremely excited to display the work of these artists. There will be a diverse range of styles on display, not only among the exhibited works but also on the limited edition label designs.”
A free BYOB event takes place in the gallery space on Friday 25 October 2013 between 6pm and 10pm where attendees will be able to network, take-in the art and make merry.
Honest Brew’s Annabel Causer said: “At Honest Brew we want to help people discover really good beer. Combining two of our passions – beer and art – will be a great chance for people to get to know more about beer, as well as to take home their very own piece of artwork.”
Neil Owen, founder of Test Space, added: “Creating our own limited edition beer with Honest Brew and Column was great fun. We’ve worked on pop up restaurants before and it’s always exciting to develop new collaborations that mix art with food and drink. Seeing the craft and design that goes into making the beers was also a nice parallel to the work the artists have done to create the labels and the show.”
