Craft Union opens five sites following a million-pound investment during lockdown

The award-winning Craft Union Pub Company has opened five new sites following an investment, worth over £1million, during lockdown. The newly refurbished sites include the Punchbowl in Spalding, the Old House at Home in Maidstone, the Talbot in Warsop, Ye Old Swan in Barnham and the Kings Head in Ilkeston.

All sites are now successfully open and welcoming back customers old and new, in line with COVID-secure Government guidelines. Each site has been transformed to the highest of standards, sympathetically designed with the community in mind – a real feeling of home away from home.

These projects form part of a significant capital investment programme that Craft Union continues to make into its pub estate for the benefit of communities across the country.

Frazer Grimbleby, Operations Director of Craft Union, said: “I am hugely excited to be opening all five of these sites, following their fantastic transformations. The operations team and I were determined that we would get them up and running, and ready to serve their communities safely as soon as possible after lockdown, and I’m really happy with what we have achieved.

“We recognise the importance of investment in our sites and strive to create the best possible atmosphere and environments for our customers. We were not going to let the lockdown get in the way of this, seeing it as an opportunity to make improvements and reflect on all of our businesses.”

Craft Union won Best Community Pub Operator at the Publican Awards in 2020. It continues to be one of the fastest growing operations in the UK, providing wet-led community spaces at the heart of the communities they serve.
