In our last news item (see: https://www.beerguild.co.uk/news/introducing-cuckoo-collaborative-project/), we introduced the Cuckoo Collaborative project, an exciting project involving two pairs of brewing students from the International Centre for Brewing Science at the University of Nottingham, brewing two new beers in collaboration with Black Iris Brewery in Nottingham, and Dancing Duck Brewery in Derby. Both teams have been busy developing their ideas and brewing the beers and are now able to offer an update, including details of their launch parties.
Cuckoo Collaborative with Black Iris will be launching their beer at three places simultaneously. Firstly, the Kean’s Head in the Lace Market area of Nottingham. For the convenience of visitors coming in from the train station, the party continues at the Canalhouse, just a short walk away. And for those in the north of the city, Kraft Werks in Sherwood makes three. These parties will all take place on Thursday 6th July from 7pm. They will be the first opportunity to try Laima’s Luck, a 5.1% Lime & Coriander Hefeweizen that’s refreshing and tantalising in equal measure. Using approximately four hundred limes in a ten-barrel batch, this is an intriguing and juicy brew, perfect for a summer’s day.
Cuckoo Collaborative with Dancing Duck will follow a week later, launching at the Hop Gate on Sadler Gate in Derby on Thursday 13th July, from 6pm onwards. Voted the Best Bar at the Derby Food & Drink Awards, this is the perfect venue for drinkers to get their hands on Jester – a top-notch tribute to British hops. With a potent combination of fruity flavours and an all-new experimental aroma hop, this light and quaffable pale ale should go down well on a sunny afternoon.
