DE14 BREWER SENT TO COVENTRY FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

DE14 brewster, Aneta Izdebska (27), has been sent to Coventry (from Burton-on-Trent) in celebration of International Women’s Day.

Aneta will travel from Burton down the M6 to Fargo Village to join forces with Ritchie Bosworth, Head Brewer of Coventry’s Twisted Barrel Ale brewery.

Their collaborative brew will be a 4.8% abv Hazy Belgian Session IPA, sold in cask and keg.

The recipe will be a malt bill of Extra Pale Malt, Flaked Oats, Rye and Dextrin. This will be lightly bittered with Magnum hops, then hopped at 80c post boil with Simcoe (US), Sovereign from Marston’s own hop farm in Kent, Ekuanot (US) and fermented with Belle Saison yeast at 22C to add some spicy esters.

It will be available in the Twisted Barrel taproom, and local pubs.

Joanne Wyke, Marston’s Marketing Manager, comments:

“Back to the middle ages, it was women who were the powerhouse of brewing in Britain. By the 19th and 20th Century, that had died away, with brewing being seen as man’s work; but over the last 10 years, brewers like Marston’s have been addressing that imbalance, with women rising naturally to the top like a finely chiselled bubble on a pint of ale.”

Aneta adds: “In the world of wine, women are recognised as having more accurate palates than men; so, I am thrilled to work alongside the highly inventive team Twisted Barrel to add my own tastes and talents to a great new brew. This collaboration will be a mini testament to the rise of women in beer.”

Ritchie Bosworth adds: “Twisted Barrel is a modern business run on ethical, vegan principles. We promote inclusivity wherever we can, and as such attract a wide range of clientele to our Tap House and beyond. We’re truly excited to be involved in such a strong movement (now in its fifth year!) that promotes the principles of inclusivity and respect, such as the International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day.

“We love to collaborate with folks whenever and wherever possible. It will be great to work with Aneta and the team at DE14 micro-brewery and combine our shared knowledge to produce a great beer for everyone to enjoy. We’ve learned something from every collaboration brew we’ve ever brewed and this is our seventeenth in the last year alone.

“I hope to return the compliment and go to brew with Aneta on her DE14 kit later in the Spring.”
