DRINKS MAVEN LAUNCHES TO ENLIGHTEN DISCERNING DRINKERS

A new website named Drinks Maven has launched to enlighten anyone interested in excellent drinks, celebrating its first week of online activity on the week of its first year anniversary of being an independent company.

Founded by journalist, brewer, barfly and drinks awards judge Jessica Mason, who has spent a decade writing for the drinks industry, Drinks Maven focuses on new drinks trends, offers candid commentary on the fast-changing drinks scene and covers launches of interesting and flavoursome high quality drinks and where to buy them.

Drinks Maven Founder Jessica Mason said: “The first few commentary pieces on the site focus on beer – The Craft Beer Revolution and why it happened as well as what will make or break beer’s future. You can also read about new trends as well as see some great new drinks launches with direct links showing you where you can buy them.”

“The site is for everyone who likes drinks. It is for people who want to peruse a credible selection with the assurance that no low-quality products sneaking their way in,” said Jessica.

“Drinks Maven was created out of the frustration that there are some amazing drinks out there and yet many purport to be brilliant and are just not. Many brand owners had begun to buy their way into pubs, bars, supermarkets and people’s homes via the media using marketing budgets to secure advertising and sponsorship deals that bribed their way onto the pages and websites of whomever they chose. For too long now this has felt like misguidance for everyone who simply wanted to select and drink something decent and truly worth their time or money,” she explained, adding: “It might just be a website, but it is a start and the plan is for it to only feature drinks that are great.”

Drinks Maven can be found at www.drinksmaven.com and can be followed on Twitter and Instagram on @drinksmaven

In Jessica’s time at the Morning Advertiser, she spearheaded the positivity initiative #TryJanuary helping pubs, bars and restaurants to gain uplifts in takings across the UK during a month historically known for a lull in trading.

Not content just writing about drinks, Jessica has always sought to learn how drinks are made and believes in and cares about the enormous talent within the hospitality industry.

Jessica is a keen brewer and has been tutored by the likes of Dark Star, Burning Sky, The Kernel and Beavertown. She studied the WSET Levels 1,2 and 3 to highlight the merits of gaining wine and spirit qualifications and is a contributing author to the books 1001 Whiskies You Must Try Before You Die and 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die.

As well as being a judge for the World Beer Awards, the IWSC backed Beer Awards and a selection of cocktail contests around the world, Jessica also presents and conducts live interviews and panel debates with drinks company leaders at events.

A testement to her notion being that flavour, colour and art are all naturally symbiotic and sensorial.
