Event Invitation: Thanksgiving | Duration Turns 2

Nov 25-27 in Norfolk at Duration Brewing with a Taste of the South and 10 Tap Lines

Norfolk’s Duration Brewing has announced it will be hosting a Thanksgiving Celebration to mark two years since opening their idyllic farmhouse brewery. Taking place across three evenings on 25-27 Nov in a Southern-style session. Pouring no less than 10 draught beers over in the barrel store. A low country boil will be served family-style at 7pm while good beer flows throughout the night.

This is shaping up to be a good old-fashioned humdinger of an evening with some southern rock and bluegrass playing. Fun giveaways and some appreciation awards too.

Ticket price of £25 includes your first two beers and a plate for the 7pm feed. Doors open 4pm.

Duration took a long time building their brewery from the ground up with the support of the industry and a growing customer base. They have managed to adapt and continue to grow in both staff and production capacity across these incredibly challenging times.

Miranda Hudson – Co-Founder and Managing Director says:

“Celebrating with our nearest and dearest matters more than ever right now. After a year of zoom partying it’s great to invite people to the brewery this year. Thanksgiving is our way of giving back and looking at how far we have come – together in beer!”

“Our motto has always been to make good beer with good people in a way that respects where we are. There may be a lot to change in Modern Beer to end discrimination and celebrating the wins along the way helps us all continue to fight the good fight to keep good beer flowing.”

Derek Bates Head Brewer and Co-Founder adds:

“Being from the Carolina’s I want to have a little good old Southern Hospitality reflected in our brewery’s birthday celebrations this year, so we’ve peppered the event with music, food and beer to party Southern & Norfolk style. To even still be in business is an achievement in itself, let alone making it through our first 2 years as a bricks and mortar business mostly in a global pandemic!”

Launch Tap List of 10 beers will be shared on the Duration Thanksgiving Event Page nearer the time. Duration is an inclusive space. Behaviours that encourage discrimination of any form will not be tolerated.

About Duration Brewing:

Duration is a modern farmhouse brewery in West Acre (West Norfolk) making beers that belong. The brewery produces fresh beers and wild and blended farm-style ales brewed from nature with purpose. Our range of Everyday, Slow, Agricultural and Spontaneous beers are explored further in a piece by Bates our head brewer on our blog. Our founders made a short video to share their vision.

The brewery was founded by Miranda Hudson and Derek Bates in Summer 2017. After brewing their first batches nomadically and in collaboration with friends in the industry, the brewery moved into its permanent Norfolk home in late October 2019 and released their first in-house beers as part of a National Bedrock Launch across over 50 independent venues on 12th December 2019. With so many milestones we’ve opted to count Thanksgiving (4th Thursday in Nov annually) as our Brewery’s Birthday!

Nestled in ancient woodlands midway along the Nar Valley Pilgrim Trail, the brewery sits in the ruins of an old priory and by the banks of a chalk river. Duration brews beers that take inspiration from and pay homage to the area’s unique terroir and produce. Made with a sense of time and place under the stewardship of head brewer Derek Bates (former Brew By Numbers) Duration pours the region’s rich bounty into every glass.

Following a complex renovation process, Duration’s sustainable brewery is both a nod to the past and a look to the future. A modern, efficient brewhouse was designed with sustainability in mind, while special care has also been taken to ensure the brewery’s construction and output does not disturb the local ecosystem.

In February 2020, the brewery was named in the top ten list of best new breweries in the world according to RateBeer.com and in March 2020 the breweries first Wild Beer brewed collaboratively at Fyne Ales, Scotland won gold for best Spontaneous Ale at the SIBA National Independent Beer Awards. Now, in 2021 the brewery has been shortlisted for The Brewer’s Choice Awards across 2 categories, Best New Beer for flagship Turtles All The Way Down and New Brewery of The Year.
