Women On Tap festival – a UK showcase of women & beer with an emphasis on the northern scene – will take place for a third year this May. Bringing 26 events over 5 days across 13 venues across the north, the flagship annual event showcases the very best in hospitality across the region, alongside creative talent & inspirational women.

New for 2019 is Beer For All – a conference bringing together leading voices in the beer world, showcasing new research, and tackling issues such as sexual harassment in pubs, with bold aims to positively change beer for good.

Women On Tap has exploded since it began in 2017.

This year headline sponsorship comes from globally recognised Manchester brewer, Cloudwater, with further backing from northern beer royalty, North Bar Ltd, Black Sheep, Brew York, Roosters and more.

Women On Tap presents one-off events fusing beer, women & the arts in order to raise the profile of women in a traditionally male-dominated industry and to tackle the related issues. The unique annual festival comprises a core events programme, devised around themes of education, discussion & debate, entertainment, and wellbeing by the Women On Tap team, enhanced with approved fringe events from selected partners.

Founder Rachel Auty says, “We’re stepping up the game this year. I’m excited to bring cohesion to our beer education programme with Beer School, and the Beer For All conference will be a powerful contribution to change in the industry. I’m delighted about making Harrogate the place where the beer world comes together for learning and important conversation this May. We’re also supporting some great charities, and we’ll be using the festival as a launchpad to lead further change and make beer a better place for women. Equality is good for everyone.”

Beer School 2019 is series of 5 devised sessions, one each day of the festival. Starting with an introductory session, each day delivers lessons, insights and tastings with a shifting focus on specific areas of traditional and modern-day beer. All sessions will be held at selected unique and striking bar or brewery settings.

The first of its kind in the UK, Beer For All is a 1-day conference at the heart of the 2019 festival in the stunning grade II listed Harrogate Theatre.

Leading industry & consumer voices will collide for a day of fascinating research, open discussion & important debate around equality, diversity & accessibility in beer. Confirmed speakers include Annabel Smith (BeerBelle, Dea Latis), Paul Jones (Cloudwater), Jaega Wise (Wild Card), Sophie de Ronde (Burnt Mill), and Edinburgh-based women’s beer group Beers Without Beards.
