FYNE ALES TAKE TOP NATIONAL AWARDS – Fyne Ales Jarl wins two top awards at this year’s Great British Beer Festival.

Fyne Ales have won two top awards for their beer Jarl at this year’s Great British Beer Festival. The blonde session ale won the much coveted Champion Golden Ale award and scored a Bronze medal in the overall Champion Beer of Britain award, the first time a Scottish brewery has placed in the competition since 2005.

Commenting on winning the prizes, Managing Director of Fyne Ales Jamie Delap said,

“We are delighted to announce that Jarl has placed Bronze in the overall Champion Beer of Britain competition. Winning the Champion Golden Ale category is also a fantastic achievement for the brewery. To win both of these competitions is testament to Jarl’s popularity and great taste.”

It has been a massively successful summer for Fyne Ales and Jarl, with the beer also being crowned the Champion Beer of Scotland at the Scottish Real Ale Festival in July. A strong haul at this year’s international Beer challenge, with two Silver and five Bronze medals including a packaging award for Sublime Stout, has capped off a fantastic summer of awards for Fyne Ales.

The recent awards, coupled with television appearances, have raised the national profile of the beer and seen an increase in demand throughout the country. With the brewery planning a significant expansion in the next 12 months, adding jobs to the local area, it bodes well for the future of the Argyll based business.

The annual Great British Beer Festival, now in its 36th year, is held in London and organised by the Campaign for Real Ale. With over 55,000 people attending the event and over 800 beers available over five days, it is Britain’s premier real ale festival.

Fyne Ales Jarl is a 3.8% hoppy blonde session ale which is packed full of the hop Citra, which gives the beer a fruity aroma and a strong citrus flavour. The brewery first brewed the beer as a special for their annual festival, Fyne Fest, which is held at the brewery each year. The beer was so popular that it was quickly taken on as a permanent beer and has become the top selling beer in the Fyne Ales range.

Fyne Ales is a Scottish brewery dedicated to brewing outstanding craft beer with passion and integrity. Located on a working farm at the head of loch Fyne, the brewery has been in operation since 2001. Combining only the best malted barley and hops from around the world with the soft highland water from the hills around the brewery, Fyne Ales make beers that are distinctive and full of flavour.
