Guild Member Invite: Gilbert White's House and Gardens

ree

Gilbert White's House and Gardens is located in the heart of the South Downs, in Selborne, Hampshire. It was the former home of pioneering naturalist and author of the fourth most published book in the world called 'The Natural History of Selborne'. Gilbert White documented in his letters how he brewed his own beer with specific ingredients.

We now have a team of wonderful volunteers who brew in White's historic brewhouse and make a wide range of ales. One of the most newly released beers is named the Nobel Hop, after a man named John Hopfield who lives in Selborne won a Nobel prize. These beers have won prizes in the local community and are supplied to local pubs for events. They are also sold at the museum's own pub across the road called the Jubilee Tap.

We are offering you and your writers the opportunity to come and visit and try these beers, meet the brewers, see how they a brewed and learn how we use Gilbert White's historic recipes today in the very place he brewed. For more information and if you would like to arrange a visit to the Gilbert White brewery please email marketing@gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk.
