The Head of Steam Durham Reopens

The Head of Steam Durham reopened to the public on 3 May, following a full refurbishment to update the site, in line with The Head of Steam’s new brand style from their recently opened bars in Didsbury, Nottingham and Leicester earlier this year.

The site, which first opened in 2009, has always been incredibly popular in Durham city centre, and is now enhanced with a delicious new food menu to complement the already impressive selection of cask ales and craft beers from the UK, Belgium, USA, and beyond.

A selection of premium cocktails, wines, spirits and soft drinks complete the drinks range, with all menus available online via the website, and the site a verified venue on Untappd (the beer check-in app).

The new food menu includes a selection of traditional British pub classics with a contemporary twist, plus fresh artisan stone-baked pizzas, burgers, 12” hot dogs and the new for 2018 ‘Besler Flight’ – three light bites paired with three beers to complement the food options, which have proved popular in other The Head of Steam venues since the menu launched earlier this year.  The menu, served until 9pm every day also includes selected dishes using beers on sale in the bar as ingredients, including the Full Head of Steam Burger (made with Camerons Brewery’s Röad Crew beer).

Chris Soley, Chief Executive at Camerons Brewery (who owns The Head of Steam brand), said “We’ve always loved The Head of Steam in Durham, and were keen to enhance the already fantastic beer range with our popular new menu and comfier surroundings. Opening up the entrance has completely transformed the downstairs space, which is now much more welcoming, and our upstairs area is now a perfect venue for meetings and parties”.
